Description

The​ ​Empowered​ ​to​ ​Connect​ ​Conference​ ​features​ ​practical​ ​teaching​ ​in​ ​a​ ​safe​ ​and​ ​supportive community​ ​as​ ​we​ ​work​ ​to​ ​equip​ ​families,​ ​churches,​ ​and​ ​professionals​ ​to​ ​better​ ​serve​ ​children impacted​ ​by​ ​adoption​ ​and​ ​foster​ ​care.​ ​It​ ​features​ ​​Trust-Based​ ​Relational​ ​Intervention®​ ​(TBRI) methods​ ​developed​ ​by​ ​Dr.​ ​Karyn​ ​Purvis​ ​and​ ​Dr.​ ​David​ ​Cross​ ​from​ ​the​ Karyn​ ​Purvis​ ​Institute​ ​of Child​ ​Development,​​ ​to​ ​help​ ​bring​ ​attachment​ ​and​ ​connection​ ​in​ ​families.​ ​The​ ​content​ ​is​ ​ideal​ ​for adoptive​ ​and​ ​foster​ ​parents,​ ​those​ ​considering​ ​adoption​ ​or​ ​foster​ ​care,​ ​and​ ​those​ ​who​ ​are serving​ ​and​ ​supporting​ ​others,​ ​including​ ​social​ ​workers,​ ​agency​ ​professionals,​ ​church​ ​staff​ ​and ministry​ ​leaders,​ ​counselors,​ ​and​ ​therapists.

Join us as we host a simulcast event of the Empowered to Connect Conference. The conference runs from 9:45am - 6pm on both Friday and Saturday April 27 - 28, 2018. We can't wait to see you!

What to Expect

Our event team will be ready to welcome you when you arrive and will be running the event in person. The speaking sessions of the conference will be simulcast from the live event.

Registration fee includes free onsite parking, a conference workbook, coffee, tea and morning and afternoon snacks for both days.

Lunch is not provided. An hour and a half has been set aside for lunch with many restaurants available in close proximity. During the lunch break, you are also welcome to bring your lunch and stay onsite and connect with others who serve children from hard places.

Childcare

Limited childcare is available for an additional fee. Child care is available starting at 9:45am until lunch and then re-opens 15 minutes before the afternoon sessions begin. Parents are required to pick up their children for the lunch break and also provide lunch for them. Childcare must be registered for in advance even if your individual ticket is registered through a Children's Aid Society.

Discounts and Subsidies

If you are an active foster parent, adoptive family or staff member of a Children's Aid Society in the Hamilton area, your registration fee may be covered by your Society. Please contact us or refer to your training calendar for more information. For families involved with Hamilton CAS and Brant CAFS, please register directly through your training center. Certification and Professional Development

This event may qualify for 11 hours of professional development and continuing education. The 2017 Conference was approved by the US National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Certification for 2018 is pending.
