EMPOWERING STUDENTS WITH PARENT ENGAGEMENT: FREE Parent Conference April 8

The WRDSB Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) and Waterloo Region Assembly of Public School Councils (WRAPSC) are excited to announce this sixth annual parent conference SATURDAY APRIL 8 at Bluevale Collegiate Institute: Empowering Students with Parent Engagement.
The conference schedule kicks off with a dynamic Father/Daughter keynote presenting Royan & Yumi Lee, "If You’re Not Learning Together, You’re Doing it Wrong”. Workshops throughout the day cover a variety of topics including mindfulness, creative learning, nutrition, power of optimism, emotional intelligence, and so much more! The conference will close with remarks shared by Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police for the Waterloo Regional Police Service. Visit www.wrdsb.ca/pic for a full listing of the session descriptions.
This FREE event is an amazing opportunity for our families within the WRDSB! Join us for the full day or a part of the day as your schedule permits. All parents and guardians of WRDSB students are invited to attend. Free childcare for children 2-11 is provided (children must be out of diapers) and registration for this service is required.

Registration opens at 8:15am (complimentary coffee and tea will be served)
Exhibitors open at 8:15am.

Morning Breakout Sessions: 10:30am-12:00pm

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to the event?
Bus - GRT Bus Route #5
Car - Free parking is available to attendees. There are parking lots on each side of the school as well as street parking in the area.

What time should I arrive to the event?
If you are planning to attend the keynote, we ask that you arrive as early as 8:15am to pick up your registration package. Complimentary morning refreshments will be available and there will be exhibitors to visit. Opening remarks begin at 8:45am and the keynote will begin promptly at 9:00am.
Is childcare offered?
Yes! Free childcare is available for children ages 2-11. Children do need to be diaper-free and toilet trained. Registration for childcare is required.
Is lunch offered?
Yes, a purchased lunch is an option available to attendees. If you would like to purchase a lunch, choose the lunch option when registering for the event. Lunch charge is $5.00 and you will pay on the event date when you check-in.
If you do not wish to purchase a lunch, you can bring your own lunch to enjoy in the cafetorium.
If you have registered your children for childcare, please bring a 'balanced lunch' and water bottle for them - a purchased lunch is not available to the children.
Do I need to bring anything to the event?
If you do not pre-order a lunch, please bring your own lunch.
Refillable water bottle - we will have water stations setup throughout the day.
Pen and notebook or a device for taking notes will also come in handy!
What if a session is full that I want to attend?
If a session is full when you register, please email us at email@example.com and we will add your name to the waitlist for that session. If and when space opens up, we will register you and send you confirmation.
Can I update my registration information?
You can make changes to your registration anytime after you register by logging into your eventbrite account. Or you can email/call us with any requested changes. Most importantly, if you register and then are unable to attend, please please please let us know you will not be attending. Often we have waiting lists for sessions and we would appreciate your due diligence.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Your registration package will be available for you when you arrive at the event. It is not necessary to bring your printed ticket but you certainly can if you would like to.
