Event description

Description

NEW DATE - NOVEMBER 6

An introduction to Technovation Challenge

Technovation challenges students to become a technology entrepreneur and develop a mobile app that solves a real problem in their local community. Teams of up to 5 girls work together to research, design, and build a mobile app prototype. Their ideas then get judged against teams from around the world.

Find out how you can start a team at your school at either the elementary (grade 6 - 8) or secondary school level. No prior coding or app development experience is necessary for students or teachers and all materials needed are provided.

In the next three years, we will face a shortage of 200,000 IT and computing jobs and yet, only 3% of Canadian students are studying computer science in their undergraduate programs, and 77% of those are male. Let's work to close the tech gender gap together.

_______________________

The workshop will also include a hands-on beginner level training session on MIT and/or Thunkable app development platform.
** We encourage everyone to bring their own devices (laptops or tablets).
