Enchaining Democracy: The Now-Transnational Project of the Radical Libertarian Right

Nancy Maclean is William Chafe Professor of History and Public Policy, Duke University and author of Democracy in Chains. This prize-winning book is widely regarded as the “must-read” book about libertarianism in today’s world and its dire implications for democracy. This talk is part of Wilson Institute for Canadian History’s workshop, The Realities of Canadian Democracy.

Democracy can be strengthened or weakened, made anemic or vital. This series assumes that democracy must be tended, and offers differing, sometimes competing, ways of doing so.
