Description

Hello Energy Futures Network!!!

Calgary is known and as an "Energy City" and even its current tagline is, "Be Part of the Energy”. Calgary is home to hundreds of head offices of oil and gas companies, service providers and supporting organizations. However, if fossil fuel use in Canada is going to peak in 2 years (articles NEB Chief Economist - Oct. 2017), then should Calgary (and Alberta) to be rapidly transitioning to become about "All Things Energy" -- not just about oil, gas, oil sands and pipelines?

Calgary remains an attractive city for investment, startups and new head offices, and with an abundance of bright, young technical experts -- the highest concentration of Engineers in Canada; we have the expertise. Chasing Amazon for HQ2 is a great idea (and can re-purpose a lot of existing tech talent) but why not build on this energy expertise.

There are hundreds of discussions, meetings, and small events focused on the future of energy, clean tech, startups and more, however, is there room for an international clean energy event that aims to bring more of these discussions together to meet the needs of the marketplace, governments, scientists, and other constituents and drive investment back into Calgary and the province of Alberta?

Events are about sharing knowledge, expertise and innovations, and they are also magnificent tools for bringing foreign delegations together for the purpose of promoting business development, foreign investment and new partnerships.

We are so pleased to have Wes Scott, President & CEO, EventWorx Corporation, formerly the President of DMG Events who host the Global Petroleum Show, be the provocateur at this month's Inspired Conversation on Wednesday, November 22nd, ~6:30pm - 9:00pm, to share your views on what is possible for Calgary. Is there a need for another event? If so, what does success look like? Who are the must-attend delegates? How broad or how focused should the program be? What do people want from 'an all energy event'?

Please join us for Wes' introduction and for these kinds of challenging questions.

When you have a few minutes, please RSVP to this invitation and if you would like to invite your colleagues, please forward this invitation along.

Thank you and see you on the evening of November 22nd at 6:30pm!
