Event description

Description

The Energy Futures Lab (EFL) invites you to explore what energy transition could mean for Devon. The EFL will host the Energy Futures Roadshow and will involve different audiences in the community, including municipal government, local businesses and economic development authorities, schools, and the general public.

ROADSHOW OBJECTIVES

  1. Increase the level of understanding about the energy system in general and in the community.

  2. Explore the polarity that an energy transition can create and inspire action towards radical middle initiatives.

  3. Establish a commitment by community members to take actions or next steps on what emerges from the Roadshow.

  4. Identify at least one project or next step that establishes an ongoing connection between the EFL and Devon going forward.

ROADSHOW WORKSHOP #2 DETAILS

June 3rd - Taking Stock & Action Planning

This workshop will be an opportunity for participants to come together to discuss collaboration and action that has been undertaken since Workshop #1. In light of this, learning will be shared and captured and participants will then have an opportunity to plan for the next round of action. This event will take place from 9 am - 4:30 pm.

ROADSHOW WORKSHOP #1 DETAILS

March 25th - Energy Transition Simulation

Through a role-playing simulation, this session provided an opportunity for participants to experience decades of energy transition in one day and to draw insights from the experience for taking action together in Devon.

March 26th - Community Resilience

The second day took a workshop format and saw participants explore the implications of the Energy Futures Lab vision for Devon. The workshop featured guest speakers including Dewly Nelson, a Councillor from Hinton and EFL Fellows, Maggie Hanna and Candice Paton. The workshop included other activities that helped participants better understand the opportunities and risks of energy transition for Devon, showcased existing local initiatives, and explored what near-term initiatives (existing and new) are most important and needed to become a more resilient community.

REGISTRATION

If you particapted in one or both days of Workshop #1, thank you! Your particpation in Workshop #2 would provide an opportunity to help build off of the learning and initiatives explored in Workshop #1. It would also help Workshop #2 particpants who were unable to attend the first Workshop engage more fully.

If you were unable to attend Workshop #1 but would like to learn more about energy transition and take action in your community we would value your particpation in Workshop #2.

Refreshments, snacks and lunch will be provided for the workshop. Space is limited, so register soon.
