Join us at the Pynelogs Cultural Centre to learn about building to ENERGY STAR® for New Homes.

This workshop is primarily aimed at builders and building officials.

All builders will leave the workshop ready to get certified to build ENERGY STAR homes and prepared to offer clients options in building comfortable, durable, and healthier new homes. Attendees will also earn 3.5 CPD HPO credits (Group A).

Overview

This workshop features presentations by Richard Kadulski and the East Kootenay Community Energy Manager, and a blower door demonstration by Nate Sereda of Energy Advise.

It will explore:

  • ENERGY STAR for New Homes, providing the background you need to get certified
  • Support available from the BC utilities, including rebates
  • Support available from municipalities in the region like Invermere, including incentives
  • Working with an Energy Advisor to get EnerGuide and ENERGY STAR
  • The coming Energy Step Code, and how to prepare

This event is eligible for 3.5 Continuing Professional Development credits through the Homeowner Protection Office, and is eligible for credits through the Building Officials' Association of BC.

The early bird rate is $90 for registrations up to November 9. Registrations after this date pay $100. Flat fees - no GST or PST.

About our main speaker

Richard Kadulski of CHBA BC is an architect who has specialized in healthy, energy-efficient, climate-sensitive residential design for more than 40 years. He is active with industry organizations, including CHBA-BC, the Architectural Institute of BC, and HPO and offers seminars for the Energy Star and R-2000 programs in BC. Since 1985 he has been Editor of SOLPLAN REVIEW, Canada's journal of energy conservation, building science and building practice. He is also the author of a number of books and sits on the National Research Council of Canada Standing Committee on Housing and Small Buildings.
