ENERGY STAR for New Homes Builder Workshop - Surrey & Langley

Join us at the Surrey Sport & Leisure Centre to learn more about energy efficiency in new homes, including section 9.36 of the BC Building Code, EnerGuide, ENERGY STAR® for New Homes, and utility support.
This workshop is primarily aimed at builders and building officials.
All builders will leave the workshop ready to get certified to build ENERGY STAR homes and prepared to offer clients options in building comfortable, durable, and healthier new homes. Workshop participants will also earn 6.5 HPO CPD credits (Group A).
This workshop features presentations by Murray Frank, Richard Kadulski, FortisBC, BC Hydro, E3 Eco Group, the City of Surrey, Township of Langley, and the Greater Vancouver Home Builders' Association. It will explore:
- Section 9.36 of the BC Building Code and the different options builders have for compliance
- ENERGY STAR for New Homes, providing the background you need to get certified
- Building science issues around energy efficiency
- Support available from the BC utilities, including rebates
- Support available from the City of Surrey and Township of Langley, including incentives
- Working with an Energy Advisor
- The coming Energy Step Code, and how to prepare
This event is eligible for 6.5 Continuing Professional Development credits through the Homeowner Protection Office, and is eligible for credits through the Building Officials' Association of BC.

About our main speakers
Murray Frank of Constructive Home Solutions Inc. is recognized as a premier building science specialist in British Columbia and has been instrumental in the development of the understanding of energy performance, moisture problems, and sustainability relating to single family and multi-unit residential buildings as well as building envelope concerns relating to commercial, industrial and institutional projects. Murray is an acclaimed educator in his field and has been instrumental in the development and presentation of leading curriculum to the construction industry.
Richard Kadulski of CHBA BC is an architect who has specialized in healthy, energy-efficient, climate-sensitive residential design for more than 40 years. He is active with industry organizations, including CHBA-BC, the Architectural Institute of BC, and HPO and offers seminars for the Energy Star and R-2000 programs in BC. Since 1985 he has been Editor of SOLPLAN REVIEW, Canada's journal of energy conservation, building science and building practice. He is also the author of a number of books and sits on the National Research Council of Canada Standing Committee on Housing and Small Buildings.
