Event description

Description

The Church is God's chosen instrument for accomplishing Missio Dei (God's Mission). This course is designed to introduce an understanding of culture and practice that informs our engagement with our own communities.

Participants will be introduced to:

  • basic issues in understanding culture in both society and organizations
  • basic principles, postures, practices and attitude for engaging local culture(s)
  • leading congregations through the Three Spaces of engagement
  • several leadership practices for equipping your church for community engagement

There will be a project associated with the content from this workshop. The workshop uses the book Faithful Presence by David Fitch. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Jared Siebert to offer you this workshop. Jared currently serves as the National Director for Church Development for the Free Methodist Church in Canada, where his main responsibility is to prepare the FMCC to respond to the massive cultural change that churches are facing. He hopes to accomplish this through the planting of new kinds of churches and by developing sustained health and contextual conversations at the local church level designed to bring churches face to face with their mission in their respective neighbourhood or region.
