The CPRLV webinar "Resisting conspiracy theories and hate speech in pandemic times" addressed the issue of times of crisis as a context conducive to the emergence of conspiracy theories. However, one question remains difficult to answer for both professionals and the general public: how can we engage in dialogue with people who adhere to these theories when the usual argumentative tools do not seem to bear fruit? The webinar will allow participants to better understand the appeal of conspiracy theories for certain audiences and to reflect on the needs that are being met by this type of discourse and movement. The exchanges will also help orient participants towards good practices for welcoming and dialoguing with someone who adheres to or disseminates conspiracy ideologies, both online and offline.
