Join Stanley Park Ecology Society and One Tree Planted for a fun day of volunteering to celebrate Earth Month!
Lost Lagoon, where this event will take place, provides important habitats for many species, such as birds, amphibians, insects and native flora. Lost Lagoon is of particular importance for its use by migratory bird species, which utilize it as a resting location along the Pacific Flyway. Many invasive species threaten the biodiversity of Stanley Park. To preserve this nature oasis, we will be removing invasive Himalayan Blackberry and English Ivy from the shores of Lost Lagoon. Participants will dig out the blackberry roots and remove English Ivy covering the ground and any nearby trees, creating a habitat that can be reforested with native species.
Meeting point: Stanley Park Nature House, Located along the Lost Lagoon Path within Stanley Park.
