Equity, Economic Recovery & COVID-19
Event Information
About this Event
COVID-19 has disproportionately affected low-income neighbourhoods and essential workers. These neighbourhoods are densely populated, and comprised of overcrowded housing arrangements, and crowded bus routes. As essential workers, these individuals do not have jobs that allow them to work from home, and are disproportionately Black, Indigenous and People of Colour. What impact does this reality have on our collective economic recovery? What policy changes can address these issues and lead Ontario to a strong recovery for all?
Join First Policy Response and TVO on Feb 25 from 10:00am - 11:00am as we convene a panel of experts and practitioners to discuss these important questions.
We will be joined by:
- Nakema Rae McManamna, Director of Policy and Research, Canadian Black Policy Network
- Deputy Mayor Michael Thompson, Chair of Toronto's Economic and Community Development Committee
- Jennifer Yang, Health Reporter, Toronto Star
- Jeffrey Schiffer, Executive Director, Native Child and Family Services of Toronto
- (Moderator) Nam Kiwanuka, Host, TVO's The Agenda
This event is hosted in partnership with TVO's The Agenda. The event will be recorded and broadcast at 8pm the same evening on TVO, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook, with catch up viewing at The Agenda’s YouTube page, and tvo.org/theagenda.
