Our Speakers

Daniel Nelson

Daniel Nelson will be delivering the keynote address on Digital Legacies. Daniel is an experienced estate lawyer who has managed Civis Law LLP for several years. His extensive experience in navigating the marketplace and offering practical legal advice to business people, particularly in the field of design, has led to his appointment as General Counsel to the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers, Counsel to the Institute without Boundaries, and to the boards of several new media companies. Daniel is a skilled adjudicator and mediator and serves as a member of the Conservation Review Board, which has jurisdiction over disputes related to the designation of historic property in Ontario. Daniel passionately shares his knowledge as a frequent lecturer and writer on legal, historical, and new media topics.

Patrick

Patrick Hartford is a lawyer and Managing Director at NoticeConnect. Prior to founding the company Patrick worked as a student-at-law at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP before clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Rosalie Abella. He has published peer-reviewed articles on business law and criminal law and his research has been cited by the Supreme Court.


Elizabeth Virtue

Beth Virtue is the Director for Lexis Practice Advisor Canada, at LexisNexis Canada. Prior to joining LexisNexis, Beth practiced exclusively family law at a leading boutique firm in Toronto, representing clients with complex and straightforward matters in litigation, mediation and negotiation. In addition to her background in family law, Beth has experience in the non-profit and public sectors, having worked as a Staff Lawyer in administrative and poverty law at a community legal clinic and having clerked for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

JOEY Restaurant is located at 1 Dundas Street West. The entrance only accessible from the street level, there is not an indoor entry point from the mall.
