About this event
This course undertakes an examination of several major themes of the Reformation and Enlightenment eras, including theological contexts, political motivations, social realities, spiritualities, and competing understandings of the church and salvation. This course will be offered online, combining asynchronous and synchronous elements.
About the Instructor: The Rev. Dr. Rob Fennell, Academic Dean and Associate Professor of Historical and Systematic Theology at AST, earned a BA (Winnipeg); an MDiv (Emmanuel College, Toronto); an MLitt (University of St. Andrews); and a ThD (University of Toronto/Victoria University). His research interests include pilgrimage, hermeneutics, the Holy Spirit, C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, evangelism, congregational vitality, leadership, and The United Church of Canada. He is founding director of Camino Nova Scotia, AST’s social enterprise-based summer pilgrimage program. Prior to serving with AST, he served as a minister with local congregations of The United Church of Canada.
Dates: January - early April 2023
Days & Times: This course will be offered online, combining asynchronous and synchronous elements.
Note: The course will not necessarily begin on January 5th. Before the course begins in early January , a day & time for meeting will be set with the students.
Requirements: Weekly readings and discussions. No written work, projects, or presentations.
