SPEAKER PROFILES:

Dr. Ho is an active medical staff member of Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener, ON where she provides inpatient geriatric medicine, internal medicine and clinical pharmacology consultation services. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine at McMaster University. Dr. Ho is the founder of GeriMedRisk, a geriatric pharmacology consultation and knowledge translation service for clinicians in the Waterloo-Wellington Region.

As an internist, geriatrician and clinical pharmacologist who researches adverse drug events in the older individual using observational research and systematic review methodologies, Dr. Ho will be leading a discussion on Optimizing Medical Complexity and Drug Safety.


Dr. Sophya Benjamin is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences McMaster University and Postgraduate Research lead in Psychiatry at the Waterloo Regional Campus. She cofounded GeriMedRisk and is a psychiatrist serving seniors with dementia at the Specialized Mental Health Program at the Freeport site of Grand River Hospital. Her other clinical roles include being a Griatric Psychiatry Consultant for GeriMedRisk and providing specialist support for primary care memory clinics.

Dr. Benjamin will be sharing her experiences as it relates to Non-Pharmacological management of Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD)


Dr. Angela Cheung is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and in clinical practice for more than 25 years, specializing in osteoporosis, metabolic bone diseases and postmenopausal health. Dr. Cheung is the current chair of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry Canadian Panel, an elected member of the International Osteoporosis Foundation Council of Scientific Advisors and a past chair for Osteoporosis Canada Scientific Advisory Council. Currently a Professor of Medicine at University of Toronto (UT), the Founding Director of the UT Centre of Excellence in Skeletal Health Assessment, the Founding Director of University Health Network Osteoporosis Program and a Senior Scientist at Toronto General Research Institute.

We are excited to have Dr. Cheung lead us in what promises to be a very informative discussion focusing on Fracture Prevention and Best Practice Guidelines for Seniors with Osteoporosis
