Abendfriede, or Evening Peace, by Josef Rheinberger sets the tone for this evening of song. In this concert, the Amabilis Singers bring you varied and delightful repertoire that ranges over time and through genres, from works by Victoria and Brahms, through to modern classics by Lauridsen, Childs, Aguila and Tate. Hear how Stroope's Amor de mi Alma and Barnum's Afternoon on a Hill lend beautiful musical context to exquisite poetry, and how Lapatha & Dyck's arrangement colours the traditional Irish melody of Bonny Portmore. Enjoy Barnwell's Wanting Memories, made famous by Sweet Honey in the Rock, and There is a Light, by local musicians Acorn and Nickel.

About the organizer
We are a mixed choir of 60–70 members, performing in locations around the Lower Mainland and occasionally throughout B.C. and abroad. We sing a variety of repertoire – everything from the Brahms Requiem to folksongs, from demanding contemporary works to Spirituals. As a self-supporting community choir, our aim is to foster and promote the love of choral music, singing, and performance, primarily in the Burnaby/New Westminster area. We thrive on musical challenges and are deeply committed to singing to the utmost of our abilities and sharing performances of the highest calibre. We also love to have fun!
