Event description

Description

Each year the Canadian government provides over $3.5 billion to more than 30,000 companies under the Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit program.

Introduced in the 1980s, SR&ED is a federal tax incentive program administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The tax credit encourages businesses of all sizes to develop new or improve existing products, processes, methodologies, or materials. In Alberta, eligible businesses can recover up to 64% of their expenditures including salaries, sub-contractor fees and some materials.

Why does this matter to you?

We want to help you prepare for upcoming deadlines! If you have clients that are involved in experimental development or technology advancement, you can advise them on how SR&ED might be able to improve their bottom line significantly before it is too late.

Keep in mind that this credit applies in a wide variety of industries, including (but not limited to): Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Software and Information Communications Technology.

This session will cover:

  • What is SR&ED?
  • How to identify eligibility
  • Detailed breakdown of provincial SR&ED rates
  • How to deal with SR&ED credits after filing and before receipt
  • SR&ED Audits
  • Detailed overview of T661, T661 Part 2 and assoicated provincial schedules
  • Examples of successful claims from different industries
  • Q&A
