EWB Wine & Cheese
Wed, 22 March 2017, 7:30 PM – 10:30 PM EDT
EWB Carleton presents our Wine and Cheese event: Global Engineering.
Come and join us for a night of thoughtful discussion and speakers about how to strengthen Canada’s Global Engineering Initiative. EWB is committed to supporting the Global Engineering Initiative by helping the Canadian engineering profession become aware of its potential for positive impact on the world. We are doing so by integrating social concepts into engineering programs at some of Canada's most prestigous engineering schools. This is better equipping students with the skills needed to address some of the most pressing global challenges with the analytical and pragmatic mindset of the Canadian engineer. At the same time, we are working with some of Canada's premier engineering leaders to open a dialogue about the importance of a global engineering mindset. These leaders are pioneering changes to the profession at a broad level, to help shift how engineers see their professional commitment to social change.
We know that investing in change in Canada is as important as investing in change in Africa, as our fates are intricately intertwined. There is no doubt that if more of us are connected and contributing to collective goals both in Canada and Africa, we will increase EWB’s collective impact. It Takes a Village is one of the main ways we can all promote unity and reciprocity at EWB. The proverb “It Takes a Village” refers to the fact that it takes a whole community to raise a child. At EWB, it takes a Village--all of us--to achieve our vision of a world free of poverty and inequitable development. It Takes a Village is a platform that allows collective fundraising for collective impact at EWB. All proceeds from this event will be donated to EWB's It Takes a Village.
Keynote Speakers include Mitchell Niles, Dr. Louise de la Gorgendière, and Dr. John Gales.
We look forward to seeing you at the HUB on March 22nd! (Business-casual attire)
