Join CUI on February 17 from 12:00-1:00 PM (EST) for a free lunchtime webinar about the recently launched Excess Soil By-Law Tool and the Excess Soil Management Policy Framework.
Good excess soil management practices help preserve soil, which is an essential resource for plant growth, storing and filtering water and providing habitat for organisms.
Based on the MOECC guideline Management of Excess Soil – A Guide for Best Management Practices (MOECC BMP) and input from municipalities, construction associations, non-governmental organizations and qualified professionals, CUI has developed an online tool to help municipalities promote the beneficial reuse of excess soil through municipal by-laws.
The tool provides links to municipal site alteration and fill by-laws in Southern Ontario and guidance about how to address common issues through municipal by-laws including:
- Fill management plans
- Fees and cost recovery
