Description
Executive Director Pro-D Day Conference
November 24th, 2016 SFU Downtown Campus, 515 West Hastings, Vancouver
Overview
1st Annual Executive Director Pro-D Day Conference will be held in Vancouver on Thursday, November 24, 2016. As an ED, CEO, or Coordinator of a non-profit in BC, you are invited to join us.
This exciting day-long event will consist of eight workshops led by fellow Executive Directors, a dynamic keynote address by Vu Le (ED of Rainier Valley Corps and author of Non-Profits with Balls blog), lunch, networking opportunities, and a post-conference publication encapsulating a Top 5 list for each workshop topic.
Keynote Address
We are delighted to have Vu Le as our keynote speaker. Vu is the ED of Rainier Valley Corps in Seattle, an organization that supports non-profit leaders of colour as well as the author of the brilliant Non-Profits With Balls blog. Vu will focus on the Top 5 things that Boards need to understand about EDs and you are encouraged to invite your Board members to attend this part of the conference. Michelle Fortin of Watari will MC the evening.
Workshops
The conference will run two concurrent workshop streams so attendees can participate in four different topic sessions. The goal of the conference is to support non-profit leaders to be and to do their best. Workshops will be facilitated by experts (a fellow Executive Director) and are designed to distil the Top 5 things every ED needs to know about _____ for the ED who would rather not deal with _____.
Workshop topics include:
-
Fundraising - Facilitated by Jennifer Johnstone of Central City Foundation
-
Financial Management - Facilitated by Feri Dehhar of the Cerebral Palsy Association of BC and Shana Martinson, CA
-
Governance - Board Boundaries and Operations - Facilitated by Jennifer Breakspear of Options for Sexual Health
-
Grant Writing - Facilitated by Greg Oudman of the Health Initiative for Men
-
