Description

Please join us on Thursday, Nov. 29 for an exciting conference called Expanding the Circle: What Reconciliation and Inclusive Growth Can Mean for Inuit and Canada. This event is in partnership with the National Indigenous Economic Development Board (NIEDB), the National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association (NACCA) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), and is the final of three conferences focused on reconciliation and inclusive economic growth. This day-long conversation will bring together leading voices in the creation of Inuit economic opportunity and development, including leaders from communities, businesses, and government.

The goal of this conference, with the assistance of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), is to bring together key leaders from across Inuit Nunangat to develop a united call to action on steps to achieve Inuit economic reconciliation. We will present the collected perspectives as policy recommendations to the federal government (NIEDB) and they will use it to inform their implementation of their Strategic Plan for Reconciliation. We will also explore opportunities to present this collected perspective back to communities. In short, this vital conversation will have far-reaching implications in coming decades.

The conference will be made up of important roundtable discussions on topics like: Inuit right to economic development and prosperity; Inuit business and government procurement; and Inuit economic development and government policy and programming.
