Event description

Description

Explore the Camino de Santiago in this presentation by Karen Goldrick and Michelle Pierce Hamilton of The Tea Lounge, who walked the French Way in June 2018. In this rich photographic presentation, highlights of their journey will be shared, lessons learned, as well as challenges! All who have taken this journey, or who may be contemplating it, will benefit from the sharing of this incredible experience. Karen and Michelle will also connect those interested with the Camino Pilgrims of London Ontario, an amazing resource for those who have or wish to explore Camino, and without whom, their Camino would have been much more difficult!

The Camino is known as The Way of Saint James and is a network of pilgrim's ways or pilgirmages leading ultimately to the shrine of the apostle Saint James at the cathedral of Santiago de Compestella, in Galacia, northwestern Spain. The French Way, as well as the northern Spanish routes, are included in UNESCO's World Heritage list. It is reported that approximately 2.5 million people visit Santiago de Compestella each year. Some follow its routes as a spiritual retreat, others a religious pilgrimage; some as a physical challenge, and others simply as a curious goal. No matter the reason, whether one walks the last 100km or the French Way's entire 799km or something in between, it seems everyone who experiences 'The Way' returns changed forever!

There is no charge for this talk, but we thank-you for sharing in this experience at the Tea Lounge and ask that you support the shop with your food or beverage purchase to enjoy during the event. Buen Camino!
