Event description

Description

In this Town Hall event, Patti Tamara Lenard of the University of Ottawa will moderate a discussion between stakeholders in Canada’s private refugee sponsorship program. The Government of Canada has partnered with the UNHCR, the Open Society Foundations, and the Radcliffe Foundation to promote this program globally. Our discussion will offer a chance for those most intimately involved in delivering the program in Canada to share the lessons they have learned over the many years it has been in operation. Please join us, participate in the discussion, and share the energy and expertise that Ottawans direct towards welcoming refugees.

Featured participants include:

Jennifer Bond, Chair, Global Private Sponsorship of Refugees Initiative & Faculty Director, Refugee Hub, University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law

Patti Tamara Lenard, Associate Professor of Ethics, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs

Peter Showler, Former Chairperson, Immigration and Refugee Board, Canada

Thikra Abdullah, privately sponsored refugee to Canada

Colleen Westeinde, Community Organizer for Refugees, Ottawa

Chris Gregory, Director, Protection Policy, Refugee Affairs, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
