About this event

Immerse yourself in the magic of colour and texture in this one-day workshop with author/illustrators Ruth MacLean and Catherine Wilson. Cut, torn, and layered, the combined characteristics of various Japanese papers - tranlucency, texture, inclusions, colours -- can create an amazingly painterly result. For their book, Emily Carr and Raven: In the Darkness of Her Dreams, this creative team reproduced select works by Emily Carr in Japanese paper using refined collage techniques, much like traditional Japanese chigiri-e.

Be inspired by a choice of images provided by the instructors to explore this expressive, yet exacting technique.

All materials will be supplied. A notebook and pen for note taking is suggested. The book, Emily Carr and Raven: In the Darkness of her Dreams, will be available for purchase.

We asks that participants wear masks while indoors. Physical distancing will be observed
