Supporting Parents with Aphasia and their Families

This webinar will present results from the “raising families after aphasia” study. This was a novel international Facebook study run in 2020 using focus group methodology adapted for the online social media platform. The study explored the perspectives of parents with aphasia and their spouses on their experience of parenting with aphasia. Findings have highlighted several areas that parents with aphasia and their spouses need better support. Resources that speech pathologists may use to support family-centered practice in stroke rehabilitation will be discussed.
