You will be expected to discuss a variety of topics including:

  • What made you decide to pursue a law degree?

  • As a racialized woman, what was the most significant challenge early in your career?

  • As you progressed in your career, were you able to find more racialized women lawyers? How did you seek mentorship?

  • Share some examples when gender and racial stereotypes came into play during your practice and how you handled them.

  • Considering your cultural background and its emphasis on certain qualities (e.g., deferential), how did it inform you as a lawyer? Did it play a role? Did it ever clash with another quality or value (e.g., direct vs polite)? How did you navigate this complexity?

  • What is something that you know now that you wish you had known when you were starting out as a lawyer?

  • Any tips for students and young lawyers?
