Factfulness by Peter ten Wolde

In order to clearly navigate in this age of cursory news, framing, fake news and alternative facts it is increasingly important to obtain an objective view. By focussing less on the daily news and put more emphasis on the longer term trends, the world often turns out to be a better place than we’re inclined to think.

Factfulness is a term that was introduced by Ola Rosling of the Gapminder Foundation which means: the stress-reducing habit of only carrying opinions for which you have strong supporting facts. The factfulness concept aims to provide a clear and accurate fact-based worldview that everyone can understand.

Peter ten Wolde spreads the factfulness message with an entertaining presentation in which he paints a positive picture of the world, shows the mechanics of pre-conceived ideas and provides a framework to apply a more objective fact-based worldview.

Speaker Biography

Peter ten Wolde (1967) is public speaker on factfulness and boardroom sparring partner.

Peter is originally an expert on management information. Employed by leading software companies such as Cognos, he consulted companies like Electrolux, IKEA, Tesco, TNT and Unilever about their management information capabilities (reporting, analysis, budgeting, planning and forecasting) for more than 20 years.

In 2006 Peter founded his own company Lenimentus. Lenimentus helps accelerate the growth of software start-ups in the areas of performance management and spatial big data.

Management information primarily deals with the presentation of known information. These days Peter focusses on the information we don’t know: as international speaker on factfulness Peter shows how our world view, shaped by our background, education and news sources, is often distorted and outdated.

This event is open to the public and is free to attend.
