Factory Girls and Maisie & Reuben Gilbert at the Little Church in Big Baddeck

About this event

Join us for our fourth concert of the series with the Factory Girls and Maisie & Reuben Gilbert of The Gilberts.

Factory Girls is an Appalachian folk duo that brings the warmth of a vocal firelight with songs to soothe and disturb.Hailing from industrial Cape Breton, Stef Nicholson and Natasha Lefort now call Halifax their home. Drawing from their Cape Breton Celtic and blue collar influences, they found a great appreciation for the darker side of Appalachian and Americana folk music with the same eerie, Celtic roots.

Award winning siblings, Maisie and Reuben Gilbert (of 'The Gilberts') deliver emotionally impactful songs, arrangements, recordings and performances infused with choral, Celtic, and country influences. Their debut album ‘The Gilberts: One’ garnered the Young Performers of the Year award at the 2021 Canadian Folk Music Awards. The follow-up ‘Tell Me’ won the 2021 Music Nova Scotia Award for Americana/Bluegrass Recording of the Year and is nominated for a 2022 Canadian Folk Music Award in the Vocal Group of the Year category. Singles and tracks from both albums have received radio play on CBC, across the United States, and on a host of radio stations. The Gilberts are featured artists for the 2022 edition of the Story and the Song on CBC.
