Please join us for an afternoon of chamber music! Pieces Through Time, includes works by award winning Canadian composer Glenn Sutherland, Beethoven, Bloch and Brahms. Glenn Sutherland was named an emerging Canadian composer of the year 2016 by the Canadian Music Centre. His solo composition for horn, dedicated to Richard Mingus, is a three piece suite exploring different styles, moods and registers of the horn. He states that if there is one unifying idea, it would be three expressions of gratitude for the ever-unfolding wonder of life. A sonata for horn and piano by Beethoven, Bloch’s Baal Shem Suite (Three Pictures of Chassidic Life) which depicts contrition, improvisation and rejoicing, and the celebrated Trio in E-flat Major, Op. 40 for Piano, Violin and Horn by Brahms complete this life-embracing program.
