Family Night Hike: Adventures in the Dark
Event Information
About this event
Join us for a free guided family-friendly night hike at the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre (on the Trent University campus) on Saturday, January 29 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm. Our Pathway Guides - Nature Nancy, Kim Dobson, and Brittany Finigan - will lead the one-hour hike along the trails at the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre. Experience the beauty of nature in the nighttime! What makes an owl such an excellent hunter? Why don't we see colour at night? There are so many amazing things to discover in the dark.
All ages are welcome, and a parent or caregiver must accompany all children. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to guarantee your spot. We'll be there as long as temperatures don't dip below -15 with the wind chill.
Vaccinations checked upon arrival and Covid screenings in place. We follow all current Covid protocols. At this point, only adults require proof of vaccinations. Bring your mask and don't forget to wear appropriate clothing! Headlamps or flashlights are highly recommended as well as sturdy boots for walking on uneven ground. We will keep face masks on and focus on 2-meter distancing just to be extra safe.
Hikers will travel in small groups, and we will respect all current Covid guidelines. Each group will stop to warm up at the campfire and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. Please bring your own mug!
This hike supports Pathway Landmarks, including #1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 14, and many others! Learn more about the Pathway Project at pathwayproject.ca and report your activity to be entered in our monthly prize draw for a $50 gift certificate.
