Event Details



Join us on the beach for a fun and educational day geared towards learning about the importance of strength training to help prevent ACL injuries, and eating healthy for optimal performance. 

Parents will be informed of on why female soccer players are up to 8x more likely to sustain an ACL injury than male soccer players, and how the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) can help identify those at increased risk.

The girls will be individually assessed and receive an FMS score as well as learn how to move safely to prevent injury. Following the FMS screening and activities, everyone is invited for lunch at Mackie's. 

After lunch there is the option of participating in a Standup Paddle Board (SUP) lesson provided by Sport in PortRegistration for this option includes lesson and rental.

Schedule of events: 

9 AM - arrival 

9 AM-12 PM - Parents: information session
                     - Girls: FMS screening and activities
12 PM - Optional lunch at Mackie's on the beach
1 PM - Optional SUP lesson and rental provided by Sport In Port 

The Power Hour is presented by Sue Safadi, Gerry Safadi, and Teri Biloski, for the St. Thomas Vipers U13 Girls Soccer Team. 

All registered participants will receive a Fast and Female T-shirt!

Fast and Female

Fast and Female is a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment through sport of young women ages 8 to 18. By partnering with female olympians, we offer inspiring programming all over North-America. Through our non-competitive and fun initiatives, we strive to retain girls in the competitive sports of cross-country skiing, biathlon and complementary summer endurance sports. In the long-term, we hope to be involved in all olympic sports. Fast and Female is based in Canmore, Alberta and was founded in 2005 by olympic gold medalist in cross-country skiing - Chandra Crawford.
