February Yogic Somatic Release
Event Information
About this Event
We store tension in our bodies and yogis say this tension not only comes from physical exertion/wounds, but also from unprocessed emotions and thought patterns. The stress and wounding that we hold onto are called "samskaras."
You will be guided through an easy to follow sequence of exercises and yoga poses that are specifically designed to release muscular patterns of stress tension and trauma from the body (adapted from TRE by Dr. David Bercelli). This workshop introduces breath work, dynamic movement and held postures to release stress in the tissues of the body in a safe, supportive environment. The physical practice will be followed by a resting period to invite reflexive muscle vibrations to release body tension and emotional relief. It will include discussion about the science of the practice and supporting yourself moving forward to wrap up.
Meghan Vornholt has taken courses in trauma-informed yoga and has been teaching yoga since 2013. She has worked in mental health and supports participants with their wellness through a peer support approach.
No yoga experience is required. All participants must take personal responsibility for their practice to practice in a way that is safe for them. Participants are asked to have their video on so that the facilitator can best guide them for safety in the poses.
