Ferguson to Prospect Point- Little House on the High Ground

An enriching stroll along the picturesque North-West periphery of Stanley Park peninsula. This is an all encompassing narrated journey through our mythological and historical past with myriad of geological wonders. Together we explore, the mythology behind some Vancouver’s celebrated landmarks as it has been passed on through First Nations oral history. The highlight of this tour is the unique natural phenomena that has shaped our land with physical evidence going back to a geological time of 70 million years.

A Walk on the Bridge: 30 minutes
Learn about one man’s vision and unremitting determination without which we couldn’t have gotten our singular Vancouver Icon, the Lions Gate Bridge. We begin with paying our tribute to this unsung hero, our BC boy Alfred, from the very spot from where his ashes were scattered over the Burrard Inlet. And we then share the fascinating facts of the bridge itself including its ‘Lions’.
Our Rendezvous: Prospect Point Lighthouse
Difficulty Level: Easy to Moderate- moderate climb included, please wear running/hiking shoes
Little House on the High Ground: 30 minutes
Shrouded in the mists of time or cautiously discounted story of Chief Supple Jack and his little son August Jack. Together we explore the lost site of the ‘Chaythoos”, a little house on the High Ground once stood atop the bluff at Prospect Point until 1888. We also cover some of momentous history of Prospect Point, from S.S. Beaver to windstorm of 2006-2007 that has reshaped our beloved Stanley Park.
Note: Tour ends at Prospect Point. Walk back to Ferguson Point is an approximate 20 minute nature stroll, mostly downhill. Hop on/Hop off travellers can Hop off at Feguson Point and Hop on at Prospect Point. Locals or other travellers can park at Ferguson Point or somewhere in between Ferguson Point and Prospect Point.
