Film Making Camp

This two-day workshop is led by documentary filmmaker, Shabnam Sukhdev was awarded two National Film Awards in 2014 for The Last Adieu about her father, celebrated Indian filmmaker, Sukhdev Singh Sandhu. She writes and produces films, and teaches film studies at Durham College. Shabnam is passionate about film and loves to share her passion with youth.

This unique opportunity for high school students will help develop filmmaking skills like scriptwriting and directing in creative documentary.

Using the Personal Cinema format, you’ll get a hands-on understanding of how to create a film by learning simple audiovisual tools through an interactive participatory workshop.

“In this workshop, you will EXPLORE an intimate approach to filmmaking. You will LEARN to channel your curiosity and arrive at a story you wish to tell in a 5-minute long film. It is purely from your perspective, and therefore personal. It defines who you are. You will DEVELOP the basics of how to make a film using resources available to you and creating a film unique to your vision.” - Shabnam Sukhdev
