Event description

Description

Join us on World River's Day for a special screening of The Heart of the Fraser documentary, in the Heart of the Fraser itself!

The film calls attention to the continuing destruction of a culturally-rich ecosystem in the lower Fraser River; namely the gravel reach from Hope to Mission, British Columbia. It showcases the extraordinary environmental of this unique ecosystem, the profound changes development has had on the landscape, and the efforts to protect and restore the gravel reach from further degradation.

After the screening, we will be joined by a panel of experts for an interactive Q&A session.

LOCATION - GW Graham Theatre, Chilliwack
TIME - Saturday Sept 21st, doors open 7pm and film starts 7:30pm

WHAT IS WORLD RIVERS DAY?
World Rivers Day is a celebration of the world's waterways. It highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and encourage the improved stewardship of rivers around the world. Rivers in every country face an array of threats, and only our active involvement will ensure their health in the years ahead.

This year will be the 15th annual world rivers day, and has the theme “waterways in our communities”. Thousands of events involving millions of people are set to take place globally. Activities will range from stream clean-ups and habitat enhancement projects to educational outings and community riverside celebrations.
