Event description

Description

Kintsugi yoga provides a safe and supportive environment for participants to experience being present comfortably and learning to befriend the body in a strengths-based practice. Join Instructor Christina Brack in exploring this deeply supportive experience.

The name “Kintsugi” refers to the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with a gold lacquer to transform the item into a beautiful work of art. Other metals used include silver, brass, bronze, or copper. Instead of discarding the broken item, it becomes better than new; stronger than before.

As a philosophy, kintsugi offers us a chance to find value in the missing pieces, chips, and flaws that have come from life experiences – to find new purpose, strength, and to celebrate being perfectly imperfect.

This workshop incorporates tools & techniques to call upon for self-regulation during difficult or challenging experiences.

Participants always have the opportunity to choose what feels best for them during class, all cues are verbal/visual; the instructor does not use hands-on adjustments in this trauma informed class.

A yoga practice of this nature is meant to compliment existing counselling/therapies as an integrative approach to recovery. The instructor cannot offer counselling/psychological services, however, a list of community resources will be made available at this workshop.
