About this Event

PICS is hosting "Finding the Ability in Disability" - An Employment Forum to bring awareness to opportunities for Job Seekers and Employers. There will be exhibitors from Service Providers and Inclusive Employers to help job seekers with their career goals.

Workshops for job seekers and employers wanting to learn about having an Inclusive workplace will also be at this event.

The focus on the event is to highlight people's abilities and help employers tap into this unused Labour Market resource.

Focus Professional Services Inc. successfully employs and supports 20+ individuals on the Autism Spectrum in well-paid, full-time, meaningful employment at six different client sites. We take a holistic approach in training and supporting individuals on the Spectrum and their employers.

Join us to learn about our training programs, hiring and retention processes, and support services. You will leave with a better understanding of neurodiversity in the workplace and the emerging best practices evolving internationally. Employers will gain insights into their organization’s readiness to neurodiversify and how to proceed. Jobseekers will gain insights into retention skills needed and their accommodation advocacy rights.

Making an Accessible Workplace

Neil Squire Society programs offer an opportunity for people with disabilities to develop computer skills, build their employment skills and help re-enter or enter the work force. Our assistive technology services help remove any technology barriers.

We also assist employers in making their work place a more accessible and inclusive environment. Employers can hire someone with a disability through our wage subsidy program, or discover our ergonomic and assistive technology services.

The BC Centre for Abilities and Open Door Group will discuss the many funding possibilities that are available for job seekers and employers. This is a must attend workshop for those starting an inclusive workplace, persons with a disability looking for work and for those that offer support programs to this labour force. Learn how to access these funds from frontline service providers.
