FinTech Day: Financial Empowerment Through Technology

On January 24th, Coast Capital is hosting BC Tech’s first FinTech Day of the year and second of the FinTech Series to discuss how they can empower Canadians to achieve better financial well-being.

Join the YVR FinTech community for an interactive and engaging event featuring FinTech company demos, a panel discussion, a keynote, and networking. Learn from industry experts and mingle with tech startups, financial institutions and industry supporters. Hosted by Coast Capital Savings, this is the second FinTech Day as part of the BC Tech FinTech Series.

Our Host

John Groves, VP of Enterprise Transformation, Coast Capital Savings

John Groves has more than 20 years of experience in public affairs, government relations and communications and enterprise transformation, and is currently the Vice-President, Enterprise Transformation for Coast Capital Savings Credit Union. He is responsible for ensuring Coast Capital delivers on its purpose: to improve the financial well-being of its members by providing an exceptional member and employee experience. He also leads Coast Capital’s program to become a federal credit union, which will enable them to expand to other provinces and help improve the financial well-being of all Canadians. John has worked in the financial services sector for more than a decade.

John holds a BA in Communications from Simon Fraser University and a MA in Media and Communications from the University of London.

Brenton Peck, Senior Manager, Business Development, Centre for Financial Services Innovation

Brenton Peck is a Sr. Manager, Business Development at the Center for Financial Services Innovation. Leveraging his previous roles at CFSI as a Consultant and Relationship Manager, Brenton helps organizations structure and execute projects that are designed to improve the financial health of their business and their customers.

Mr. Peck has a strong passion for helping his clients define their financial health strategy, assess the rapidly changing marketplace, and develop high-quality products and practices. He has held positions at the Filene Research Institute, J.P.Morgan Chase, and Wells Fargo

What is the cancellation policy?

Tickets are non-refundable. We encourage you to pass your ticket along to someone else in the event that you are unable to attend. See FAQ below on how to make changes to your registration.

Can I make changes to my registration?

Yes. Simply follow the instructions in your confirmation email to log in to your Eventbrite account. Click here for step-by-step instructions. Or, please email events@wearebctech.com with your change request.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. In fact, we'd prefer you saved a tree and didn't print your ticket! Please display your e-ticket on your smartphone for scanning, or provide your name to our registration attendants.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Please be prepared to show ID to obtain alcoholic beverages.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The Hub is conveniently located 7 minutes by foot from VCC-Clark SkyTrain station. There is ample free parking on the street, as well as two visitor parking lots that are available for an hourly rate.

Please plan ahead for a safe ride home.
