Welcome to our first annual "The Creatives Challenge"!

This is a spin-off of The Amazing Race but with it's own little twist. You will be given a project with a 72-hour deadline. Your team will be put together for you to be fair to everyone. Remember, in the real world you don't get to choose your teams all the time. Please note that the money being collected below is only a deposit to secure your spot in the challenge. All expenses, including but not limited to, accommodation, transportation, food and drinks as well as admission into any of the venues part of this challenge are at your own or your teams expense. We reserve the right to disqualify any teams or members thereof who do not comply to the rules of the challenge. This challenge will be limited to the Calgary City Limits meaning that you will not need to travel outside of Calgary for the course of the 3-day challenge. Please note that we will only be 30 participants for this challenge.


REFUND POLICY: You may drop out of the challenge up to a maximum of 7 days/1 week before its official start date and time. If you revoke your spot less than 7 days/1 week prior to the official race start, there will be no refunds allowed. No exceptions.


The entry fees being collected for this event is being used to fund the race for booking venues and acquiring the materials necessary to create clues and distribute clues as well as purchasing prizes for participants and the winners. The Creative Challenge will not be keeping any of the entry fees collected for profit. Any leftover funds will be donated to a charity in the challenge’s name on behalf of all participants.


Rules:

  1. Be kind to each other
  2. No judgement
  3. Listen to each other's thoughts and ideas
  4. Elect a Group Leader (Optional but highly recommended)
  5. NO CHEATING (If you are caught by any of the Challenge Administrators or other participants, your ENTIRE TEAM will be DISQUALIFIED IMMEDIATELY from the race. There are no exceptions to this rule.)
  6. MUSIC PRODUCERS: Please do not bring anything but a laptop and charger for music production and possibly a portable microphone for sound recording.
  7. PHOTOGRAPHERS/VIDEOGRAPHERS: No telephoto or mini-telephoto lenses, tripods/monopods, GoPros, Drones. You may bring up to a maximum of 3 lenses and 1 camera body. (Battery grip is allowed with prior approval from Challenge Administrators)
  8. Please keep everything PG and nothing more! (Your productions may be made public on our Facebook page and Instagram account @thecreative.challenge if you win.)
  9. If your team fails to meet the 72-hour deadline, your team is disqualified.
  10. Absolutely no tolerance for racism, sexism, stereotype, discrimination, or anything of the sort during the race. (IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION IF CAUGHT BY CHALLENGE ADMINISTRATION)
  11. Please follow all city laws and by-laws. Any interactions with law enforcement is at your own expense and you are responsible for handling the situation. Your team, challenge committee, team members and administration are not liable or responsible whatsoever.


Recommendations:

  • If you are coming in from out of town, please try to arrive into Calgary at least 24 hours prior to the challenge beginning.
  • If you are flying, it is recommended to purchase roundtrip tickets dated from October 10th to October 15th.
  • If any or all of your teammates are from the same area, please try as much as possible to carpool as parking may be limited in certain areas.
  • PHOTOGRAPHERS/VIDEOGRAPHERS/MUSIC PRODUCERS: it is recommended to pack light as there will be a lot of walking, biking, transit riding during the course of the race.
  • Once you have been given your teams, please create a team group chat. You will find that they will be very useful throughout the course of the race.
  • Get to know your teammates.
  • Please pack appropriately as the weather may change while you are out collecting and creating content for your project.
  • It is also recommended to appoint 1 person on your team to take notes and distribute among members.


During the first day, we will be meeting at the base of the Calgary Tower in Downtown where you will be given your first clue and where the project will be explained to you in detail. You will also be provided with an itinerary for any group events that happen throughout each day including the award ceremony for all participants.

During the last day, you will be given your participation goodies and there will also be a big group Thanksgiving dinner to say our goodbyes until next year. Remember, your projects must be submitted no later than 9PM MST on the last day of the race. The administrators will review each one thoroughly and decide who wins the Grand Prize which will be announced in the coming weeks via an email blast to all participants who have signed up.
