Description

This event is free but we are also accepting online donations. Please consider donating when you register- all proceeds go towards future events.

Moving from high school to university is hard. Navigating registration systems, choosing classes, picking professors and understanding your major are all new hurdles to face. With the school year rapidly coming to a close and first year rapidly approaching, it’s a good time to start planning for the next step in your education.

Life Over Labels will be presenting a “University 101” session on May 28, 2017. The session will consist of a panel of current UBC and SFU students who will be discussing topics such as:

  • Choosing your university and things to consider (including the application process)
  • Special programs such as IB and AP and how they connect to university
  • Living in residence vs commuting from home
  • Choosing your first year courses (and a UBC course registration demo)
  • Considering your major and major types (major, honours, combined major)
  • First year requirements and “hidden requirements”
  • How to build an effective schedule

There will also be time to mingle with the speakers and ask them questions about classes, scholarships and university life overall.

This event is ideal for graduating seniors and for high schoolers in grades 10 and 11 who are interested in learning more about the transition to university. Space is limited so make sure to RSVP!

We are accepting donations online for this event. If you are interested in supporting us for future events, please consider making a donation when you register. Every bit helps!
