In this course kids will explore their imagination and creativity focusing on a theme of the ocean and the underwater creatures. Students will examine how this theme was represented through different art movements. Kids will learn step by step how to draw and how to mix colours from primaries, as well as how to handle different techniques including printmaking, collage, clay and construction. Emphasis is mainly on process, skill development, and understanding of materials, while individual expression and problem solving is encouraged through the use of their newly-learned art vocabulary.
A new project will be given each week. A new theme will be introduced each term in order to accommodate returning students.
Our Preschool Arts Program focuses on providing a safe, warm and creative environment that children can trust—a place where they can be themselves.
The age appropriate activities and exercises engage kids in a stimulating and thought-provoking way. The process itself is much more important to the preschooler than the actual result of that process, so we make sure that their minds and hands are occupied at all times making, breaking, inventing and reinventing, observing and touching, imagining, feeling and telling. Themes and objects for exploration, relevant to kids’ lives, are chosen together through play and story telling, while each individual is allowed and encouraged to do things their own way
Non toxic and safe materials such as Play-doh, glue, paper, safety scissors, crayons, paint, and brushes, are used in our hands-on approach.
