Workshop Description:

Join botanical Artist Jacquelyn for a fun and friendly craft class! Learn how to preserve the beauty of nature, while creating you very own flower art through a combination of flower pounding and beginner embroidery.

During this workshop, Jacquelyn will guide you through the steps to flower pounding on pre-treated fabric, which will be followed by heat setting our designs for long lasting color. 

Working with a beautiful selection of flowers, you will learn now to press them into fabric. Your creation will be placed inside a pretty bamboo embroidery hoop, which makes it easy to hang and display in your home.

Last but not least, we will add some beautiful embellishments to our designs with two beautiful beginner friendly embroidery stitches: lazy daisy & French knot. No previous experienced needed - just the willingness to learn!

You can expect to learn:

❁How to create beautiful flower pounded textile prints

❁The process for transferring the natural pigment of plants to fabric

❁ Identifying which flowers work best

❁ How to embroider some beginner stitches for decorative embellishments

Instructor Bio:

Jacquelyn Miccolis is a Nova Scotian Artist and Founder of Sparkles n' Sawdust Studio. Her passion for art and creativity began at an early age and continues to blossom throughout her adult life. ​

Her background is deeply rooted within the Halifax arts industry and as a business professional, she continues to stay connected through hosting the annual Supernova Market.​

Jacquelyn finds an immeasurable amount of joy in sharing her passion for art with others. With a zest for life and warm smile, she is always eager to welcome people from all walks of life into the studio. Her workshops have become well known for being fun, well organized and always with a few shared laughs!

At Sparkles n' Sawdust Studio we truly care about your health & safety. This is what you can expect when attending a workshop:

​- Reduced Class sizes (max.10 participants per class)

- Trifold plexiglass cubicles for each individual participant

- Art and/or craft supplies is divided up in advance to allow for a zero contact event

- Tables are spaced out to allow for social distancing

- Wall mounted hand sanitizer provided

- Controlled environment - with no foot traffic

- Studio is thoroughly sanitized before every workshop

- We have air conditioning with an air purifier for the warmer months

- Face masks are not mandatory, however they are strongly encouraged (All staff are masked)

Our workshops are carefully timed and therefore to make sure that everyone get the most of the experience, attendees who arrive more than 5 minutes late are not permitted to participate and therefore will forfeit their ticket. Thank you for your cooperation!

STAY HOME POLICY - If you are unable to attend due to illness, recent exposure or self isolation please get in touch with us by email prior to the event and we will issue a credit note with a 3 month expiration date. Please note that tickets are non-refundable and all sales are final. No compensation will be provided for anyone who contacts the studio after the event has started.

If a workshop in unable to be held due to covid-19 restrictions or safety concerns, you will be notified by email and receive a credit note, with no expiration date.
