Event description
Learn more about the small but significant boxes of rebel prisoners from the Rebellion of 1837.

About this Event

In the spring and summer of 1838, rebel prisoners confined in Toronto’s jail (including many from this area) crafted small boxes as gifts to family or friends. Box inscriptions reveal their makers’ true feelings after many months of incarceration.

Join historian Chris Raible as he shares some of his fascinating research into these significant objects tied to one of Upper Canada's most important and historic events.
