Event description

Description

Have Your Say!

A Food Policy for Canada will set a long-term vision for the country’s health, environmental, social, and economic goals related to food, while also identifying actions that can be taken in the short-term to improve Canada’s food system.

What is Your Recipe for a Better Food System?

SeaChoice and the Ecology Action Centre are hosting an engagement session to ensure that Canadian seafood challenges and opportunities are addressed and adequately included in the policy. Key findings from the session will be submitted to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (https://www.canada.ca/en/campaign/food-policy.html) and Food Secure Canada ( https://foodsecurecanada.org/events), to contribute to the development of a new policy that will shape Canada’s food systems into the future.

The seafood engagement session will start with an overview of the Food Policy for Canada, and then have several presentations and discussions on seafood specific issues related to the policy’s 4 pillars:

  • Increasing access to affordable food
  • Improving health and food safety
  • Conserving our soil, water, and air
  • Growing more high-quality food
