ABOUT La Fiammata Piano Duo

Recently featured on CBC’s In Concert, La Fiammata has quickly become a piano duo to watch out for. Speaking to their undeniable chemistry, CBC radio host, Paolo Pietropaolo, attested that “You can practically hear the electricity crackling between them.” As the Grand Prix Winners of the Canadian Music Competition 2017, La Fiammata made its orchestral debut with Orchestre de la Francophonie under the baton of Nicolas Ellis. Most recently, the duo won First Prize as well as the Audience Choice Award and the Prize for the Best Performance of a Work by Claude Debussy at the Third Northwest International Piano Ensemble Competition in Vancouver.

The highlights of the 2017-2018 season included appearances as soloists with the Royal Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Johannes Debus, the Canadian Opera Company Noon Hour Concert Series, Indian River Music festival and Cecilia’s Retreat. Additionally, La Fiammata was chosen to be the Youth Ambassadors for the 60th anniversary of the Canadian Music Competition in the Toronto Chapter.

Comprising of Canadian pianists Charissa Vandikas and Linda Ruan, the duo was formed in 2015 in Toronto, where they are both full scholarship students of The Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, studying with John O’Conor and James Anagnoson respectively. They are currently coached by James Anagnoson of the renowned Anagnoson-Kinton Duo.

Tonight's concert features the music of Schubert and Debussy with many dancing themes "For the Dancer" in you.
