Event description

Description

Come enjoy the wonders of nature while foraging for wild edibles on a morning hike! Whether you’re keen to learn about nature, want to be more self-reliant or perhaps lack a green thumb, foraging is a fantastic window by which to explore the natural world and increase one’s awareness of and respect for its beauty and complexity. Wild foods are very nutritious and often have much higher amounts of minerals and nutrients than their domesticated counterparts, they not only benefit one’s nutrition but can also be a medicine and they do all the work of growing themselves for free!

Join experienced forager and nerdy biologist Luke Eckstein in exploring and gathering from what is around us. We will see what’s out right now, touch things, taste things, and discuss all aspects of foraging. We will practice our identification skills, share knowledge and get better acquainted with the world of plants (and mushrooms if we encounter any)!

You will learn:

  • Plant Identification (maybe mushroom Identification also)
  • Sustainable harvesting
  • Risks, hazards and safety
  • More!
Chasing a root!Chasing a root!

You will want to attend if:

  • You are curious and like to get your hands dirty
  • You want to enrich your outdoor experiences and increase your self-reliance
  • You care about nature and want to participate in and protect your local environment
