Event description

Description

Come and experience Forest Therapy!

Location: We will be exploring the mixed forest along the north shore of the Grand River, by way of the Aboyne Trail, located between Elora and Fergus.

Morning is an especially precious time to be outside. This is a chance to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect. Also known as 'forest therapy' or 'shinrin-yoku', this is a beautiful way to connect with yourself, nature, and an intimate group. During this session, a certified Forest Therapy Guide will lead you on a slow and gentle walk through the forest. Our time together will include a brief introduction to the practice of forest bathing, guided walk and nature connection invitations, and a wild foraged tea ceremony. We will move intentionally and slowly, focusing more on noticing our internal and external landscapes than on getting to a particular destination.

Common benefits include reduced stress, heightened sensory awareness, and increased sense of place and community. Scientific studies have shown that forest therapy can help strengthen the immune system, lower blood pressure, and ease symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Cost: $40 per person OR save 25% when you register for both Aboyne Trail Experiences (Both March 20 at 7pm & March 31 at 9am for $60 per person) all applicable fees and taxes included.

Note: to register multiple people, just add up the total amount for your choice of walks. All registrations will receive a follow up email with an intake form for you to fill out, and any required additional details about your upcoming experience.

About Your Guide

Kristina is a certified Forest Therapy Guide who feels blessed to be able to help facilitate connection and healing for others. Her work as an ecologist, botanist, and yoga instructor help to inform her ability to guide forest therapy practices with both knowledge and compassion.

Accessibility

This trail is fairly well maintained, but does require walking on some uneven ground. Stairs to the Grand River shore may be accessed. Our walk may also include some opportunities for mindful wandering off of maintained trails. You will be provided with a foam pad or stool to sit on for periods of stillness throughout the session. If you have any accessibility concerns, please contact me prior to purchasing your ticket.

**Additional details about meeting location, weather, etc. will be emailed to you a couple of days in advance of the event.
