Description

Fostering Inclusive Growth: What does it mean, why is it important and how could it be done?

Date: April 25, 2017

Time: 13:30 – 14:30

Venue: Hopper A, 8th Floor, IDRC (150 Kent Street, Ottawa)

IDRC is pleased to invite you to the public event co-organized with the World Economic Forum (WEF): “Fostering Inclusive Growth: What does it mean, why is it important and how could it be done?”.

Richard Samans, Managing Director at WEF, will share key insights from the 2017 WEF Inclusive Growth and Development Report published in January 2017. The Report presents a new global index, the Inclusive Development Index (IDI), using a framework and indicators that assess the degree to which a country´s structural and institutional features promote inclusive growth. It provides a richer and more nuanced assessment of economic development than the conventional one based on GDP per capita alone. Mr. Samans will also discuss emerging approaches and lessons from the report.

The presentation will be followed by a short panel discussion with Peru’s former Minister of Development and Social Inclusion Carolina Trivelli, currently a senior researcher at the Instituto de Estudios Peruanos.

The event will be hosted in English but questions are encouraged in both English and French. For more information please contact us at eg@idrc.ca.
