Foundry Film Series: Window Horses Poetry Evening
Event Information
About this event
Join us on May 14th as Sea to Sky Community Services (SSCS) and Foundry Sea to Sky present the final film in the series of in-person movie nights for youth ages 12 to 24 (and those who care about them).
This will be a free event, with pay-what-you-can pizza and snacks, as well as interactive poetry activities before the show. There will be door prizes: poetry books, Vallea Lumina tickets, Air Pods, Yoga mats, and more!
We will be screening WINDOW HORSES, a full-length Canadian animated feature film starring Sandra Oh. It follows the story of young poet Rosie Ming, when she is surprised by a mysterious invitation to a poetry festival in Shiraz, Iran.
The film is full of original animated poems, by a great variety of poets and animators. It offers a creative way to make sense of the changing world around us, as well as the changing landscape within us.
These movie nights are a part of the ongoing excitement building for the Summer 2022 opening of the brand-new Foundry Sea to Sky Centre and Youth Hub. Foundry Sea to Sky will offer a variety of necessary services to youth aged 12-24, with a focus on mental health care. The facility will also house a youth hub, where young people can attend drop-in programs, recreation and arts activities, or to simply have a friendly place to hang out.
