About this Event

We invite you to join us for our upcoming Public Lecture in recognition of Alzheimer's Awareness Month.

During this in-depth and empowering seminar, Dr. Acorn will provide tips and strategies for persons living with dementia, family, care partners and heath-care providers to optimize health care throughout the dementia journey. Topics will include an overview of dementia, frailty and aging, the stages of the disease, how to access community resources and support systems, how to navigate the health-care system, care partner support and much more.

Biography: Dr. Michelle Acorn is a Doctor of Nursing Practice/Nurse Practitioner (NP). She is certified as both a Primary Health Care provider and Adult NP. Michelle holds geriatric nursing specialty certifications and is a certified geriatric prescriber, as well as being advanced planning certified. She holds an Associate Faculty position at the University of Toronto, Bloomberg School of Nursing and teaches Care of the Older Adult. Michelle has practiced for over 30 years in hospital, retirement and long-term care settings, caring for older adults.
